Hungary As A Strong Force For Europe’s Future – Patrick Poppel

When we look at the EU states, we see many problems and challenges. Deindustrialization, mass migration and social problems. France and Germany are gradually losing their past achievements. The legacy built by previous generations will be destroyed in just a few years.

But there is a state in Europe that is taking a different path both on the issue of mass migration and on the issue of policy towards Russia. Hungary has decided to put its national interests above the interests of the administration in Brussels.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s trip to Moscow is entirely in line with this political development. Even though the Western media speaks of a “propaganda gift for Putin,” this visit is a step in the right direction to maintain peace in Europe.

In terms of foreign policy and domestic policy, Hungary is taking a completely different path than the other EU states. The group newly founded by the FPÖ, Orbán’s Hungarian Fidesz and the ANO from the Czech Republic to build a right-wing faction in the EU Parliament has also found increasing support in the past few days. Hungary is therefore playing an increasingly important role at the level of EU politics.

And when Orban flew to China to try to bring about a possible end to the conflict in Ukraine, the commentators in the Western media no longer understand why this is all happening. However, it is clearly visible that Hungary has reached a high point so far, particularly in its foreign policy work. Currently, no other European statesman is as committed to preserving peace as Orban.

This means that Orban is responsible for the most important issue in European politics – security policy. While other high-ranking politicians are interested in the integration of migrants, climate change and gay pride, Orban is concerned with the security policy aspects of an entire continent.

But how did it come about that the Hungarian Prime Minister is now responsible for this issue? Actually, this is primarily due to the incompetence of the Austrian government. Mediating between conflicting parties has always been Austria’s job.

However, since Austria has decided not only to support the sanctions against Russia as a neutral state, but has also now become a transit country for arms deliveries to Ukraine, Vienna has lost its reputation.

And now another state is taking on this task. Hungary has spoken out most against the sanctions policy of all EU states. That was the best basis for building trust in the Kremlin. It can be assumed that Orban is certainly the European politician who will receive the warmest welcome in Moscow.

The same war rhetoric can often be heard from other European statesmen as from Ukraine. Given the current political developments, it is very likely that Hungary could continue to play a role as an international mediator in the future. This will massively increase Hungary’s reputation in the world.

The combination of a stable domestic political situation and good international contacts will help Hungary become a significant power in Eastern Europe.

Since Western European companies are currently migrating to Hungary, the Hungarian economy will also develop well in the long term. Hungary will not repeat the “German economic miracle”, but it could become a solid economic factor in Europe.

Active foreign policy, defense against mass migration, internal security, social stability and good economic development – all of these factors will have a positive impact on the future of the Hungarian state. In addition, Orban is already the role model for many opposition forces across Europe.

Hungary is gaining a high reputation, particularly through the establishment of a new patriotic group in the European Parliament. Many forces that will join this group are opposition parties, but Orban forms a government with his party. He can therefore be seen as a senior partner in this project.

Hungary’s reputation will continue to grow in the coming months and years. But let us not forget that there are also forces in Europe that will fight this development. It is known that the European Union can also impose sanctions and other measures against EU countries.

If the administration in Brussels does not like the politics of a member state, it immediately investigates what means can be used to take action against the political opponent.

In contrast to many of his colleagues in other EU states, Orban has clearly recognized that there is a difference between Europe and the European Union. And this difference is getting bigger and bigger.

Viktor Orban’s current foreign policy efforts clearly show us how, despite a gigantic administration in Brussels, a single EU state can achieve something for European security interests.

It can only be a matter of time before other countries follow Hungary’s example.
