According to the largest Arab opinion poll across 14 Arab and Muslim countries, 84 percent of Arabs reject recognizing Israel for political and cultural reasons, according to a report published by Al-Manar on 7 January.
The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) announced the findings of the largest opinion survey conducted in the Arab world, which included nearly 33,000 participants from 14 Arab nations and more than 900 researchers.
In contrast to religious or cultural objections, 84 percent of citizens oppose their home nations’ recognition of Israel for political reasons. Despite the Abraham Accords normalization agreement signed with Israel in 2020 by the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan, the opposition is still overwhelmingly strong.
A vast majority of respondents consider the policies of ‘Israel’ (84 percent) and the United States (78 percent) a threat to the security and stability of the Arab region, while 57 percent of respondents consider Iranian and Russian policies a threat to the region.
38 percent of those polled in Saudi Arabia rejected the recognition of Israel, while 57 percent opted not to respond. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants Saudi Arabia to be the next Arab nation to ratify the Abraham Accords.
On July 2022, Riyadh opened its airspace for Israeli flights and began investing in Israeli firms while welcoming wealthy businessmen from the occupied territories to invest in the kingdom.
A similar poll conducted in September revealed that the Arab youth also prefers Russia and China over the United States.
The 14th Annual ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey acquires statistical data from West Asia’s and North Africa’s largest demographic of approximately 200 million youth. The pollsters conducted face-to-face interviews with 3,400 young Arabs in 50 cities and 17 states: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Syria, and Yemen.
When people were asked about non-Arab nations – specifically which ones they perceive to be an ally for their country – a staggering 78 percent chose China, followed closely by Turkey and Russia.
