Musk Says Russia May Kill Starlink, As Russian Space Agency Deploys New Military Satellite Into Orbit

Elon Musk has confirmed that the Kiev’s regime Nazi militants now rely solely on Starlink for communication after internal communiction was destroyed by the Russian Special Operation, though the Starlink has become useless as it is supposedly jammed by Russian electronic warfare systems, and Musk thinks it may soon fail completely.

In a series of tweets, Musk didn’t sound too optimistic about the longevity of the service because “Russia is actively trying to kill Starlink. To safeguard, SpaceX has diverted massive resources towards defense,” adding: “Even so, Starlink may still die.”

Big difference between peace comms vs warfront comms.

Starlink is only comms system still working at warfront – others all dead.

Russia is actively trying to kill Starlink. To safeguard, SpaceX has diverted massive resources towards defense.

Even so, Starlink may still die.

Musk also tweeted that “Starlink is the primary communications system of the Ukrainian army on the war front.”

And even said: “If anyone else wants this job, please be my guest …”

“Internet fiber, phone lines, cell towers & other space-based comms in war areas have been destroyed … Starlink is all that’s left. For now,” Musk continued.

Is Russia’s “Tirada” Suppressing Starlink?

On the other hand, Russian media presents a dramatically different version. They claim that the Russian military decided to use the Tirada-2S satellite communications electronic jamming system against Starlink.

There is not much information available about the system in the public domain. It is believed that the development of the equipment began in 2001 when the requirement for a system emerged that could block satellite connection with ground-based terminals and transceivers on aircraft.

The system may have seen several setbacks during its development phase. Economic sanctions imposed by the West could have contributed to the delays since they forced many Russian enterprises involved in the defense and space sectors to move from imported to domestically produced electronic components.

Experts believe that the “Tirada” is designed in two different configurations: stationary and mobile on a wheeled chassis. The mock-up of the hardware with very hazy explanations of its capabilities appeared at both closed and public presentations, including the International Air Show MAKS-2013.

The Tirada was developed at the 46th Central Research Institute of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Defense, and 16 years later, in 2017, the institute declared that the entire program would soon be completed.

In the meantime, Russia Just Deployed A New Military Satellite

A classified military satellite, designated Kosmos-2560, was launched from the Plesetsk Military Cosmodrome in Russia’s northern Arkhangelsk Region on Saturday evening at 10:55pm Moscow time (7:55 GMT). An Angara-1.2 rocket has delivered into orbit a communication satellite for the Russian military.

Launched on the smallest carrier rocket of the Angara family, the spacecraft “successfully reached orbit” soon after, establishing a radio link with the mission control center and reporting all systems functioning after deployment, the Defense Ministry said in a brief statement.

Robust telecommunication is being maintained with the satellite and its onboard systems are functioning normally, the Ministry added, TASS reports

“Combat crews of the Space Force of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a successful launch of the Angara-1.2 light-class launch vehicle with a spacecraft for the Russian Defense Ministry from the State Test Cosmodrome Plesetsk,” the ministry said.

The Russian military said the payload was designated Kosmos-2560, but shared no details of the mission or technical capabilities of the satellite. A similarly secretive launch of the Angara-1.2 with another military sattelite was conducted from Plesetsk back in April. Read More
