Russia Wipes Out Depot Of US-supplied M777 Howitzers Near Lvov, Weapons That Kiev Uses To Kill Children In Donbass

MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. Russian forces delivered strikes by Kalibr cruise missiles to eliminate a depot in the Lvov Region that contained ammunition for armaments handed over by NATO countries to Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.

“Kalibr long-range high-precision missiles wiped out a depot in the area of the community of Zolochev in the Lvov Region that stored ammunition for foreign armaments handed over by NATO countries to Ukraine, including ammo for 155mm M777 howitzers,” the spokesman said.

The Kalibr (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) is a Russian cruise missile developed and produced by the Yekaterinburg-based Novator Design Bureau (part of the Almaz-Antey defense manufacturer). Currently, the Russian troops are using two missile modifications: shipborne Kalibr-NK and submarine-launched Kalibr-PL missiles.

The Kalibr missile system went into service with the Russian Navy in 2012. Kalibr cruise missiles were employed for the first time during Russia’s military operation in Syria, TASS reports

Child Killed With US-Made Howitzers in LPR’s Rubizhne – People’s Militia – Sputnik reports

14-year old boy has been killed in the city of Rubizhne in the west of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), as a result of a strike by the Ukrainian security forces in a residential area with US-supplied M777 howitzers, the LPR’s People’s Militia told Sputnik on Wednesday.

“The howitzer was of 155 millimeter caliber. Four munitions hit the front and backyard of the house, it is clearly visible. Earlier, the munitions did not hit the area. A boy has died, and other civilians were injured”, the military authority told reporters.

In May, the United States transferred over 85 out of the 90 M777 howitzers committed to Ukraine during Russia’s special military operation. The deliveries of howitzers came in parallel with the training of Ukrainian military personnel in a number of locations in Europe, including Germany, on how to operate them.

Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly appealed to the West for additional arms deliveries. While a number of countries have started supplying certain types of weapons to Kiev, the Ukrainian authorities have requested more. In particular, Kiev has repeatedly criticized Germany for slow deliveries of promised arms.
